WHAT ARE WORKPLACE ASSESSMENTS?

Workplace Assessments are critical components to any preventative strategy that seeks to proactively address any occupational hazards which may exist and thereby avoid occupational accidents or the development of any occupational diseases. While the Labour Department does conduct random inspections which would involve such assessments, it is the responsibility of the employer to perform comprehensive workplace assessments to better  identify precautionary measures which can be put in place to ensure decent working conditions for themselves and their employees.

There are three (3) common assessments conducted in the workplace:

  1. Risk Assessments
  2. Industrial Hygiene Assessments
  3. Ergonomic Assessments
